Continued from CotC Chapter 6

When he felt Enne move closer to him he was emboldened even more. He pulled her closer.

She felt herself smile softly and wrapped her arms about him once more.

He slid his hand down her side to her back, he reached under and felt her bare skin. He brushed a large scar.

She shivered slightly with the touch.

Lyden couldn't tell if she'd be ok with him moving his hand up, or down..so he kept it where it was and kissed her more.

She eased her fingers beneath his shirt and ran them over his chest and sides lightly.

Taking his cue he moved his hand up her back, then across her stomach.

She continued to brush her hands over his upper torso.

He moved his hand from her stomach upwards just a bit..

She ran her fingernails lightly over his back.

Lyden's fingertips touched the bottom of her breast, he stopped moving his hands and just lay there. Kissing her.

She allowed her hands their continued motion, and without warning nibbled his lower lip lightly.

He jumped in surprise at this unexpected but not unwanted move. His hand accidentally slipped under the cup of her bra.

She grinned slightly at the motion and kissed him again.

Lyden froze realizing where his hand was. He debated moving it in a fraction of a second, and settled on moving it around inside her bra.

In her own surprise she bit his lip again, a little harder than before, though not hard enough to break skin or hurt.

In a flash his shyness was totally gone. He bit her lip in return and started to pull at her shirt.

Her eyelashes fluttered slightly as he bit her lip, and she felt her own shyness dissipating as she helped ease her own shirt off.

Lyden kissed her with a lot more passion and a little more tongue. He reached behind her and unsnapped her bra.

It slipped easily to the floor and her hands reached out to tug almost impatiently at his shirt.

He smiled as his gaze shifted to her now exposed breasts, he helped her with his shirt.

She tossed it aside and pressed her form close to his once more.

He pulled her close then rolled over, taking her with him again, this time lifting her on top of him. He kissed her with renewed fury.

She gasped slightly at the motion, though didn't break the kiss.

He slowly slid his hands down her back, down her hips.

In turn she moved her hips lightly against his.

Lyden reflexively copied her movements. He reached under her, for the button on her jeans...

She felt the jeans loosen slightly and automatically kicked them off with hardly any trouble.

He laughed, then kissed her neck.

She tilted her head to the side slightly and started to tug at his pants as well.

He unsnapped them for her. Then skimmed his hands across the swell of her butt.

She maneuvered their bodies easily and slid his pants off, running her hand up over his thigh and to his stomach.

He gave an involuntary sigh, then quite voluntarily flipped her onto her back, he slowly pulled her panties down.

She gazed up at him, occasionally leaning up to catch his lips with hers or to gently kiss and nip at his neck.

He gazed into her eyes, then slid his hand along her breasts, lower, lower...

Her breaths occasionally hitched at the sensations his touch wrought within her, and she couldn't resist brushing her fingers over his thighs.

He shuddered. Then ran his hand up and down her thigh.

She couldn't resist releasing a soft moan and kissed him again.

He kissed her back, and slid of his boxers.

She ran her nails gently over his thighs and up over his chest, wrapping her arms lightly around his neck.

He pressed himself close to her.

She touched her lips gently along his jaw, occasionally nibbling at the flesh lightly.

He reached down and gently tried to spread her legs.

She complied slowly, touching her lips to his once more.

Lyden slowly entered her at last.

She gasped slightly as he did so, her hands clasping behind his back.

He began to move his hips in a steady rhythm.

She bit her lip lightly as another soft moan escaped them and her hands loosened from behind his back.

He kissed her, deeply, and bit her lip.

Her fingers moved softly over his back as they finally unlaced, she returned the kiss almost hungrily.

Passion boiled in him, the kiss felt to him almost like he was
trying to devour her.

She pulled back slightly to get at his lip again, nibbling it, and massaging it gently with her tongue.

He pulled away from her mouth and kissed her neck.

She tilted her head slightly as he kissed her neck and shivered in pleasure.

Three hours later...

Lyden lay naked, assuring himself a place in hacker's hell by sleeping not just twice in the same month, but twice in the same day.

Enne stood slowly, she'd slept lightly for a few minutes, but found herself to be wide awake almost immediately. She stretched in the waning moonlight.

Enne's movements woke Lyden. He yawned, then froze with his mouth wide open as he remembered what happened.

"Sorry... didn't mean to wake you." Enne said, turning towards him.

Lyden was possibly the reddest human on earth when he said. "Umm..no that's ok...

She couldn't resist a soft laugh at his reddened appearance.

He managed a chuckle at himself. "Two questions, one, did we just...umm...and two, where are my pants?

"One- I'm sure you know the answer to that, considering our... lack of dress. Two... I believe they're right beside the bed there..."

"Thanks." He reached over and grabbed them. "Guess that leads to a third question..was it..umm.."

She laughed, slightly red, though didn't answer and settled, instead, upon hunting down her various clothing articles and getting dressed.

They dressed in silence for a while, when a still shirtless Lyden said. "Well, that killed what? Three hours and ten minutes? Now what?"

"Oh, I don't know..." Enne said with a shrug, running her fingers through her hair.

Lyden glanced at his computer and was quite shocked to find he had no urge to use it. Pushing this disturbing thought out of his mind he asked. "You hungry?"

"Yeah..." She said, nodding.

"More Italian or something else? Either way I think we've pushed our time here to it's limit, wouldn't want to be caught by a vampire with our pants down." He promptly turned red again and looked away in shame at his lame joke.

She laughed, "I'd say go downstairs for some more Italian, probably put that waiter in his place. I bet he thinks we're dead by now." Enne grinned.

Lyden grinned too, "Sounds like a plan." He finished getting dressed and packed his computer. "When ever you're ready." He said, casting one quick glance at her body.

"I'm ready." Enne replied, "Got everything?"

"Yep." He led the way back to the restaurant.

Enne followed him down, snickering when she saw that same waiter was on duty.

Lyden smiled when he noticed her disheveled hair, knowing he must look the same. "Well if he didn't want us in here before..."

They were seated by a different waiter this time, though Enne knew that the other waiter had seen them by his disheveled appearance as he walked by.

Lyden ordered two servings of pasta for himself. He was very hungry now. He stayed away from caffeine though, his nerves were shot as it was.

Enne ordered a large serving of alfredo noodles, she was starving and contemplating ordering some coffee.

Lyden glanced at Enne several times while they waited for their food, not saying anything.

"Ah, finally!" Enne said as their plates arrived and she dug hungrily into her noodles.

Lyden attacked is own meal with vigor. Still making the occasional glance her way.

"Mmm..." Enne sat back finally, "That really fills the void..." She patted her stomach.

"Indeed." Lyden said, setting down his fork. "Well, after such a fun night, I'm not ready for it to end...So, what do you say? Wanna steal that chip now?"

"Sounds good to me." Enne said with a grin.

Nyx woke at a fluttering noise above them. A bat fluttered down and became a very handsome looking man. He smirked at her as she pulled on her clothes. "Having fun mistress?" She flashed him an evil look. "Now, Logan, what makes you say that?" She pressed her self against him. "Mistress, two characters were spotted in your home earlier tonight. Pleasetell me that your not still lacking fun?" He wrapped his arms around her body pulling her close. "You know me Logan, your just a play toy, and my most loyal servant. Did the intruders leave?" she asked as she wrote a note and left it on teh pillow beside the sleeping Marcus. "Yes, mistress. You know I'll follow you every where right Nyx?" He looked at her. She stopped and looked him over. "Logan, Do you know? Have ou been fighting? Your all bloody and cut up. What happened?" She leaned up and licked the blood from the cut on his cheek. "No time mistress, You need to have a meeting with Konner in the underground. Ready?" He flashed a look toward Marcus' sleeping form. She sighed "Yep." He held her close and they phased out of the room and flew to one of the various entrances of the underground.

Marcus awoke with a jolt as the entire building was flooded with brilliant white light, his phase alarm. Quickly he sensed around the apartment, he didn't sense any intruders. But he also only sensed his hounds, still gnawing on their kills, Nyx was gone. He looked around and found a note. He picked it up.

Nyx and Logan landed at the entrance. "Thanks babe, I'll take it from here." Nyx kissed him and he flew off to sleep the on coming day away. She walked through the deserted halls of the underground and stopped at the door to Konner's office.

Marcus read the note, one word was written in Nyx's fluid script. Later. He rolled his eyes, then stood and got dressed. He took a brief moment to pet his hounds before taking off from the roof. Last night he had most likely lost all allies, save Nyx. He wanted to find more, and that ment, humans. His stomach gave a sickening twist at the thought. There was only one human he hadn't killed that could possibly do him some good, which narrowed the field down. He followed her scent on the wind.

"Hey, waiter- how 'bout a coffee with some sake mixed in?" Enne asked.

"May I see some-"

"Listen mister." Enne growled, glaring at him.

"Ah... y-yes ma'am!" The waiter said shakily, "Anything for you, sir?"

Lyden laughed, "You do seem to have a way with men."

"It's not my fault he's such a wimp..." Enne glowered as the waiter scurried off to get her drink.

Lyden smiled at her.

Nyx opened the door and steped inside. There he sat behind his desk, trying to look all high and mighty. "You neede to see me love?" Nyx asked stoping just inside the door.

"Yes, dear. Its circulating around that you've abandoned the Covenant? Are you going to propestition the rest of us into joining or are you going to continue to allow Logan to stick up for you? God Nyx, he's like a puppy, and you only fucked him once. Just because you sire someone...."He sighed very loudly " I love you, I always will with almost every fiber of my being, we were sired together Nyx. Am I allowed to follow you as well?" He got up and approached her. She leaned forward and laied her head on his shoulder. "Oh, love, how far we've come, what would he think of us now?" He embraced her and they stood silent.

Nyx flinched as Konners hands found the scar on her shoulder where Rohan had made his last mistake. "Does it still hurt baby?" She winced again, "A little every once in a while."

Marcus easily followed her scent, it was, interestingly strong tonight. Well someone's been having fun. He chuckled to himself.

He flew for ten minutes, and was surprised to find himself above Nyx's restaurant haunt.Small world. He circled then landed. He calmly walked inside.

Enne sipped at her now slightly alcoholic coffee and released a pleased sigh, "That certainly hit the spot." She said, "Definately goes well with the noodles."

Lyden who was facing the door paled a little as he locked eye with Marcus. "Fun's over." He muttered at Enne.

Enne glanced over her shoulder, "Well, damn..." She muttered, gulping down the last of her drink, "And here I was looking forward to some relaxation..."

Marcus, smiling, crossed and pulled up a chair with them. "Well then I'm sorry to ruin the mood. Believe me I'd like nothing more than to let you two love birds alone." Actually I'd like nothing more than to kill you both... "But we need to talk dear Enne."

"And what, pray tell, could I possibly want to speak to you about?" Enne demanded, handing the waiter her mug for a refill.

"How's the survival of life as we know it sound?" He told the waiter to bring him a whiskey as well.

"I thought that you backed destroying life as we know it." Enne said challengingly.

He shrugged, "Yes well, not all of it. And assuredly not what I care about."

  * Many years earlier*
They were fighting. Rohan had called her out again, pissed off because she was the master's favortie. Their battle had been raging for four days. She was winning and with one lucky shot...he brought her down.
"Not so special now are you bitch?" Rohan sneered
"I'm going to kill you. It is going to hurt you very, very much." Nyx gasped and began to pull her self up.
That's when he came in. The stupid human, charging in with a wooden stake, piercing Rohan in the side. Giving Nyx the chance to sever his connection between head and body. Rohan's head rolled a few feet away and lay there eyesin shock and mouth open in a scream. She went to see the human. he was almost dead, she sank her teeth into his flesh and drank deeply, her would healed but very roughly, leaving a scar. She gave him blood, and took him back to the lair.
Konner disapproved, but was glad that she was still alive, it was later they found out the their master was dead, they raised Nyx to that post with Konner as her second.

  *The present
Nyx woke in Konner's bed, he sat in a chair beside her. "You fell asleep, you were bleeding, I bandaged it up, were you remembering?" She bagan to shudder, he sat beside her and held her until the fit passed.

"Oh?" Enne said simply.

"Konner, I need to go." She said getting dressed in fresh clothes. "But I like you here." He ran his hands up her light blue silk shirt, and wraped his legs around her leather clad legs. "I must go. Marcus needs to hear your propostion. Let go love, I'll be back." He released her and she left, knowing where Marcus would be.

"Indeed." He looked to Lyden, "You're supposed to be smart right? What do you make of this?" He slid his informants PDA over to him. Lyden examined it and quickly paled at what he was reading.

"Well, what is it?" Enne questioned, taking in Lyden's paled appearance.

"You remember that device I wanted to build? And I said the wrong frequency could kill? Well it isn't the wrong frequency if that's what you want it to do..." He looked at Marcus, "Has someone built this thing?"

Enne remembered their earlier conversation, and simply turned her steady gaze to Marcus as their drinks were brought over.

Nyx slowly made her way to her loft. She thought about her past.
Nyx reached her loft and opened the door. everything looked in order, she found nothing stolen. She made her way into her bedroom, only to find all of her silk, feather-stuffed pillows ripped adn her covers all over the bed. She turned and walked deliberately down the stairs.

Marcus nodded. "Yeah, the Covenant built it, and they plan to use it. On you." Lyden whipped his computer out and synced it up with the PDA, downloading and reading files.

Marcus turned to Enne, "I want you too help me destroy it."

"Decided to go against your precious covenant then, have you?" Enne replied.

Nyx walked out into the eating area and spotted her prey.

"They turned on me first so fuck em. Oh, and is there some reason my vampire friend is pissed?"

Enne blinked and glanced over towards where Nyx was approaching.

Nyx came over and draped herself delicately over Marcus. "Which of you is going to pay for those 17th century pillows?" She looked at them intently.

Lyden was so intent in his computing that he didn't even notice her. Marcus was trying not to laugh. "Don't worry about them Nyx, I'm sure they died for a good reason..It was good wasn't it Enne? Cause I'd hate to see you die for nothing.."

"It's not ok, the king of France gave me those off of his own bed!" She nibbled on Marcus' ear.

"It was him." Enne replied pointedly, jerking her head towards Lyden, "heh... he broke both of them..."

"Yeah what she said." Muttered Lyden, distracted. "Wait, what?" He looked up. "Oh, well I think you owed us anyway, one of your vampires shot us. We used your loft to rest."

"There were 13 pillows on my bed. And your washing my sheets." She flashed her eyes

"We broke three and I'll pay someone to wash the damn sheets. Now," He turned to Marcus. "This is big. This thing would have a range of about a thousand miles, which means you've got atleast seven more to deal with if you want to cover the planet."

"They machine's can't fire if there's no one to push the button."

Nyx smirked at the comment

"There's always someone to push the damn button." Enne growled, taking a long sip of her drink.

"Those machines are controlled by the Covenant, if the Covenant was under a more, world friendly control, then they wouldn't be a danger." He smiled, "Which is where you come in."

"Huh?" Enne blinked in confusion, inwardly smacking herself for not understanding.

Nyx pulled up a chair and ordered a glass of red whine. Listening intently to the plan.

"Rulership of the Covenant has changed hands many times over history. It's always done by force and always pure blood demons do it. I'm proposing we take them by force ourselves. You help us you save all humanity. And yourselves in the process."

"Can't argue with that kind of logic." Said Lyden.

"I see." Enne said, "And what'll happen after?"

Marcus laughed. "You say that like we could actually win...What could happen would be that lines are redrawn. Covenant policy is redrawn. There are millions of Covenant soldiers mobilizing for what they believe will be be a war. I'm guessing it's a sham, the Council is just distracting them, most of them will die along with the humans." He paused for a sip of his whiskey. Grimacing at the poor quality he continued. "I'm sure they'll be willing to follow us for a time once they realize we saved their lives. Until they get hungry for power themselves...

"And then the power struggle will start all over again." Nyx sipped her whine

"Hm." Enne said simply, "Tell me, why should we keep the covenant together? Why not simply... send them back to their lives... disband it?"

"Have a look at humans for the answer to that. Waring, fighting, killing. All very fun I'll admit, but you have those like you do because of all the free groups you have. All "evil" forces are united under the Covenant, without it there would be wars like you can not believe. And most of it would spill out into the human world very soon." He smiled at the thought. "But if we keep the Covenant, then they'll be kept in line."

Enne shrugged, "Well, now comes the next question- where do we find the head of the covenant?"

"If my guess is correct the weapon here in Katar is the primary." Lyden nodded his agreement. "Which means that they'll be here, to witness it, all we have to do is find them."

"You make it sound so easy... It's a big city you know." Enne replied, "It could take quite a while to sift through all the scumbags in search of the right ones..."

Marcus laughed so loudly at this that he drew the attention of other diners, he silenced them with a look. "We're talking about the most powerful beings on the planet, you really think they'd be in some slum? Find the most expensive luxurious place in this city and you find them."

"Or, you could just find their daughters..." Nyx smiled over her glass. "They'll be parting in the underground tonight, Konner and I made sure of that. From them we,she pointed to Marcus and herself, and read the location of the fathers from their minds. But if you have a better plan..." Nyx slid a hand up Marcus' leg.

Marcus smiled at her touch. "Maybe we can get their location, and maybe the Council would instantly know what we were up to and descend upon the underground, crushing it and us along with it."

"One sentence...Daddy's and their Daughters."

"Then perhaps one group should go to the underground, and the other be above, searching for the council and waiting to see if those below can get the information they need. That way, if some should get caught and perhaps killed, then at least there'll still be the others." Enne said.

"A workable plan, but you forgot one other battlefield, the weapon itself. If we can destroy or disable it, then we might be able to buy ourselves more time until doomsday."

"If you've got more allies, then we could form a third group." Enne said with a slight shrug.

"Every Vampire inmy circle will follow me. What ever I wish
they'll do. How's that?" Nyx sipped more whine.

"Sure, one group will take the Council. One will hit the weapon. And the last will take the daughters."

Nyx shrugged. "Where do you want them?"

Marcus smiled, "Have your vampires take the daughters and report back to us. Once they find the Council you," He pointed at Lyden and Enne, "Will take the weapon, see if you can disable or destroy it. I hear Micheal's brother Shyne is in town, well talk too them and see if we can convince him to go with you. Nyx, you and I will take Shade and attack the Council. The three of us will become a new triad if we're victorious." He spoke to Enne, "If you survive we may just offer you a place on the new council, giving humans a place in the covenant."

"Let me just tell you something- I have absolutely no plans of dying anytime soon." Enne replied.

"Yeah me either." Piped Lyden.

Marcus smiled, "Neither do I. Our problem is, our enemy feels the same way."

"Oh, I've a decent method of... persuasion." Enne said with a wicked smile.

"Well persuade your race to survive..."

"Shouldn't be too hard." She shrugged.

"I think that Era should go with my vamipres, they'll try and kill something they shouldn't if they're not supervised." Nyx continued to stroke Marcus's leg.

"Be careful of the vampires, for millennia they have served the Covenant, we cannot expect all of them to side with us. As for you," He looked at Lyden. "Build your device." He smiled at the look on his face. "Yes I know about it, and I know you need this."

He tossed a small black box at Lyden, who opened it.
"What? This is the phase pulse chip, but, how did....hey you prick!! I had plans for stealing this!"

Marcus smiled, "We're all aware of what your plans involved." Lyden blushed. "Lets get to work."

"What did his plans involve?" Enne asked curiously, looking between the two.

Nyx smiled evily at Enie. "That little girl is none of your bussiness. Marcus, Darling, we should get going.." She stood the blue silk billowing behind her. She gently placed her hand on his shoulder and exerted little pressure.

"Don't call me that, the name's Enne." She said coldly.

"I'll call you as I please. I'm leaving." She walked tote door and continued out.

"No you won't call me as you please." Enne said, following her to the door, "I don't care if you're not human, you'll respect me as I deserve."

'Whatever." Nyx shrugged and sped off with the speed of light to her destination. This wasn't going to be easy, but it was worth a shot.

Marcus headed after her to the door, turning he said to Enne and Lyden, "If you two are going to keep messing around like that, try not to breed, we have enough of your kind on what's soon to be our streets." He left.

"Can't you find a little more finess to say rude things with? At least add some flare to your insults. It makes life more interesting." Nyx said heading to their destination.

"It wasn't an insult, I was simply stating a fact, I don't want them breeding, atleast not while we're in a war."

"Aww, but children of war are best suitable to make new soldiers." Nyx rolled her eyes.

"Those two piss me off terribly." Enne said, her face slightly hot from both anger and embarrassment, "Their streets? Please, I doubt that things are gonna go to his kind if they're all like that."

"We can only hope someone other than the current seat of power wins." Said Lyden.

Enne shrugged, "I guess so..." She muttered.

Marcus muttered, "Odds are it wouldn't live long enough to be born, you don't really think either of them will come out of this alive do you?"

"If we cultivated it it would live to be something great."

"We're going up against enemies that will cut a child out and eat it if it wants..."

"Imagination is lost with you."

"Perhaps." He smiled. "Well if children are so useful why don't you have one yourself?"

"Why? Do you want one?" Nyx shot him a slylook

Marcus pulled out a cigarette and lit it, "Sure, be nice to have my line continued."

"In that case I'd kill it."

"Heh, it's mine, you'd have a hard time scratching it." He winked at her and took a drag, pausing to examine the smoke.

"You sound so full of your self. Get over your self." Nyx took his cigarette and continued on her way.

"Well of course I am, if I wasn't I wouldn't be me, and since when did you smoke?"

"Since when do you know everything about me?"

"I've known you for a century and I still don't know your last name babe..."

"The things I'll never tell...."

"Well you don't have to tell me I'm missing out...

Nyx shruged "Why tell you waht you already know?"

"A such delicious cruelty." He snatched the cigarette from her and finished it.

She glared at him and said nothing.

"So, where were we going again?"

"We're going to get Shade and send my Vamps to get the daughters. Are you really that absent minded?"

"Sorry, maybe it's your outfit."

Nyx looked down at her outfit. "Really? I really don't think this is attractive, but ok."

He smirked, "We should get moving to Shade's, I want my car back." He stretched, "Man, I'm restless tonight."

"You started the conversation. What about my clothes is distracting? and YOu can get another car."

"It's not the clothes my dear, it's the way you wear them." He smirked.

"Oh, and just how do I wear them, that is distracting?"

He raised an eyebrow at her, "My my my." He ran his hand down her spine, "Must I really explain?"

She jerked away from his touch. "Yes, you must. With words, please and not your roaming hands"

"You're beautiful, you carry yourself with dignity. You have a powerful strength that radiates from you, and I don't just mean your powers."

Nyx rolle her eyes and began to move at a quicker pace. "You and your explanations, hurry up."

He laughed, "You insisted." He matched her pace, smiling.

"I should go and tell Logan, and the others what's up, while you venture off and get Shade."

"Right, you have fun." He took of into the air.

" Rudy Deamons." Nyx muttered as she swept off into the under world. She walked along the damp corridors to the office. It was empty, perfect, it was just what she needed. She perched herself on top of the desk and waited.

"Cruel bitch." Muttered Marcus after watching her depart, after a moment he took off to find Shade, spotting him driving in the car with his wife. "Bastard..."

Shade pulled into the parking lot of the bank, and turned off the ignition. "...it's o-s-c-a-r. my baloney has a sec.."

"You don't remember a damn thing about your past, but you still have the lyrics of the Oscar Mayer Baloney song memorized?" Beth asked, clearly amused.

"Hell, yeah. It's a classic." He replied. Together they started toward the bank's entrance.

Think I'll drop in... Marcus dropped from the sky onto the hood of the car behind them with such force he smashed the engine out the bottom, the tires skidded away and he smirked.

Shade spun around so fast he made himself dizzy. His jaw dropped so low it scraped pavement. "My... car... whatthefuck?" He watched the tired bounce away and oil leak from the engine. "You son of a..." Without finishing his insult he started in Marcus's direction, only to be held back by Beth. She grabbed him by the collar and gave a hard yank. Shade's feet went out from underneath him as he hit the ground with a "Yipe!" and a thud. "What was that for?"

"Try not to forget why you're hear. We can fix the car later." She helped him to his feet and turned to her brother, "Hi Marcus. What are you doing here?"

Marcus coolly stepped down from the hood still smiling. "Hello Beth I need to borrow your husband for a bit, you don't mind do you?"

"Well, we were kinda busy... Is it important?" She asked.

As Nyx waited on the desk she pulled out an knife and cut her wrist open, allowing the blood to slowly drip onto the floor. Her boys would come she knew they would.
withing minutes Logan and Nickoli were in the office lapping the blood from the floor. the both sat on their knees and waited for her to speak. She waited still, the room slowly filld with the leaders of her Vampire legions. they all stared in awe, many years had it been since they had been summoned like this. Her blood was intoxicating they craved it.

"I called you all here for a specific reason." Nyx paused for emphasis. The room was silent. "We are waging War on the Covenant, yes love, war. It has been many years since we've even had a good scrabble to get worked up about. This time.." She smiled at them and laughed a silvery laugh. "This time we win, wefeast, and bath in a glory more promonantthat any we have faced before. I called you because you are all a part of me. I am the reason that you are here, and" she walked through the crowd and kisses a woman who shuddered " I in my entirety was to destroy the covenant. Now my children, who's with me?" A roar of agrement from all errupted and she smiled. "Logan, Nickoli, and Konner. Stay I have a job for you. All others go and prepare your selves."
The crowd parted, until there were only four in the room. "Listen carefully boys, you have a ver important job to do. I want you to bring me their daughters. Lock them in the tomb. and the send word to me. Go." She kissed each one and they departed. Nyx left the undergroundon what she hoped wasn't the last time, and went to find Marcus.

Marcus shrugged, "Not really, just fate of the world stuff, so pack your husband a lunch, we need to move."

"Oh, he wont need a lunch. He already ate." She winked at Shade, and blushed.

"I uh... yeah... I'm full." He studdered in rerturn. "Uh... Alright, where we off to?"

Marcus rolled his eyes, "Christ in hell..." He muttered. "Listen Shade long story, let's get back to Nyx's loft, there's a lot to go over."

"But there's a thing... I'm not sure what, but it seems pretty important... In my deposit box... We can't take two seconds to grab it before we go?" He inquired, glancing back at the bank, unsure of what to think or do.

Marcus flickered and vanished, exactly there was a crash from the bank and exactly one second later he reapeard, holding a metal box, jagged edges showing where it had been ripped from the wall. "There, saved you some time"

Shade took the box, and inserted the small key. Without even turning it, the damaged box popped open and a shining metal amulet revealed itself. Shade took it out, and dropped it in his pocket, "I'll figure this thing out later. OK, ready to go." He kissed Beth on the cheek, "I'll be back in a little bit, babe." And instinctively waived his hand at the car which was immediately repaired, and handed Beth the keys. "Huh... Didn't know I could do that..."

Next second the gas tank in the car blew in a fantastic fireball. Marcus burst out laughing. "You're out of practice old man, next time focus a little more."

Shade's jaw hit the ground again. "It wasn't me... I swear I did it right!" The expression of confusion on his face was priceless.

Beth tried to stifle a giggle, "It was me... I just wanted to see the look on your face." And with the same waive as Shade's, she repaired the detonated vehicle to new.

"You know you can never repair anything fully to normal, they just don't last."

"It'll last long enough to get me home. You guys have fun, I'll see you later." She hopped in, and drove away.

"Great... I feel like a kid that just got dropped off at his creepy uncle's house..." Shade said as he watched his car disappear around a corner. "Well... Where to?"

"Hell, but that's not for a few more days if we're lucky." Marcus lit another cigarette.

"Har har... How 'bout some specifics? I'm already getting bored." He put his hands in his pockets, absentmindedly polishing the medallion with his thumb, trying to remember what the hell it was.

"Fine, we're going to war, still bored?" He smirked and took a drag. "Oh, and you have to place that on a stone in the cave where you lost your memories, worry about it later cause we don't have that kind of time."

"OH WAR!" A huge smile slashed it's way across Shade's face. "And I have a feeling that this gizmo has about a decade of my life stashed away in it... I think I need to make time. Who knows, it could have some important shit in it..." As an afterthought, he added, "It's shiny. I like shiny things..."

Marcus rolled his eyes, "Fine." He opened his hand and a shimmering mass of shadows exploded into the air and took flight. He told his messenger to inform Nyx they'd be late.

"You know where the cave is by any chance?"

"Well... Location-wise, no. But I have a pretty clear image in my head. Shouldn't be to difficult to find it." With that, Shade vanished in a cloud of black smoke, after saying to Marcus, "Walk this way, sir..." Only to turn up a second later at the mouth of the cave, in the same cloud of dark smoke.

"MICHAEL NO!!" Marcus copped Shade's move with a small alteration. He appeared hovering in the air a hundred feet above the cave, in time to see the mouth of the cave pulse bright blue. Powerful waves of lightning pulsed out and struck Shade. He flew into the air, his flesh seared, Marcus dove and grabbed him just twenty feet above the ground, getting zapped a little him self in the process.

They both crashed into the ground, Marcus growling in rage, "Real smart you dumbass, you don't REMEMBER the cave so you just go blundering off!! You're lucky you're not human!!!" He kicked him. "Get up, walk it off."

"I smell toast..." Shade stood up, shook off the ashes, and looked around. "Hey, it's me. I smell good as toast. So uh... Why's it all glowy like that?" Still oblivious that he'd been nearly electrocuted. "Good thing I'm bald... Or I'd look like Don King right now!" He roared with laughter.

Marcus's hand tightened around his invisible shadow blade, and he ground his teeth together. "It's a mystical cave, it's protected, you have to go on foot!! A hundred feet!! A hundred smegging feet! That's all the distance you have to appear away to be safe! You're not immortal Shade, the things in that cave can kill you. They can kill anyone that enters, that's why it's called a Challenge! Gah!!" He kicked a large rock which vanished into the night.

"Come on, and watch yourself, we need to hurry."

"Alright, alright.. let's hurry then." He unlocked his katana in it's scabbard, ready to draw, but kept it hidden in his coat. He followed Marcus toward the cave. "And all things considered, a hundred feet really aint that far... Even on foot."

"Exactly, so I guess that defense is in there just weed out the idiots. And let me lead, I remember the inside of this cave..Unlike you with your swiss cheesed brain.

"I wouldn't have a swiss cheese brain if i had my god damn memory back." Shade fell in line behind Marcus, and drew his blade, not wanting to be caught by surprise in such a vulnerable formation. "Are we there yet?"

The reached the mouth of the cave, Marcus led the way inside.
"Shade, I probably should ask, if you were in this cave and wanted to ambush us in this position, how would you do it?" His voice trailed off as he looked around.

"Why do you think I'm the one that's worried here? Personally, I would take cover in a crack or crevace in the shadows and wait to pick off the guy in the rear, first. Use him as bait to lure the next guy into a trap." He examined every surface of the walls with more scrutiny than an antique apraiser, looking for any abnormalities in the structure that could offer cover to a would-be attacker. "The thing is... There's only two of us. Powerful or not, an ambush in a cave like this could mean bad things for us both. I'm not quite as dim as I act."

"Good plan!" Yelled Marcus, turning quickly and shoved Shade to the side as a bolt of energy blasted past his head. "Doplegangers!" He yelled, leaping into the air, bringing his blade into existence with an upward stroke. There was a clashing sound and sparks showered as a second Marcus formed from shadows in the air. The real one vaulted of the wall and swung at his double again, they both landed, blades locked.

"Watch yourself, litteraly!!"

Too late. A second Shade came from the walls and grabbed his real counterpart by the throat from behind. "I'll crush your windpipe, you pathetic bastard!"

Shade's eyes burst open, "Guess what I'm not doing... Using my windpipe, dumass." He lifted his double into the air, slamming him to the ground, taking the chance to gain an edge. He hit the ground on all fours, skin pitch black, tattoos and eyes glowing, mouth gaping open as his canines extended into fangs. His muscle mass grew into in-human proportions, and claws marred the ends of his fingers. "Bring it on, bitch. Let's see if you're as good as the original."

The two Marcus's swung their blades, each move perfectly blocked. The double shoved Marcus back and vanished in a shimmer. Marcus swung his blade around the back of his head and knocked the double's blade away before it could pierce his brain stem. He spun and swung attempting to cut the double diagonally, but he had already leapt over Marcus's head and swung his blade down at the transmuted Shade.

Shade, focused entirely on battle, quickly dodged the blade, and lunged at his own double. Shade's battle tactic was simple: kill. Barreling full-force into his double, he slammed him into the opposite wall, spun, and ripped away a chunk of whatever these things were made of. He didn't expect it to grow back, but stayed on his feet when it did and the double retaliated.

"Huh," Mused Marcus, parrying his doubles attack, "I didn't know you could regenerate."

Shade spared a glance to Marcus's direction, "Well, they are dopplegangers after all." Holding his double over his head, and throwing him down the corridor to try and put some distance between battles.

To his dismay, the double stood, vanished, and reappeared in front of him, "Let's keep this close to home, eh?"

Shade, getting angry, replied, "What the hell is this? Burger King? You have it your way? Fine, lets finish it here." He grabbed the double by the face and shoulders, and twisted, snapping its neck, then bending it to the side, sank his teeth into the creature's neck muscles, "Regenerate that, you piece of shit."

Marcus smirked as he continued to match blades with his double.

"Well it's been fun." He said, as is double landed a lucky hit on his hand, his blade flying away. Grinning maliciously the dopleganger lunged at it's opening. It's blade, a perfectly crafted duplicate of Marcus's pierced the primary heart of it's original maker.

Marcus felt a cold shudder through him as the fatal toxins of the blade whithered his heart. As Death rushed forward eagerly to claim it's long awaited prize.

As his vision dimmed Marcus grabbed the hand of his double and pulled him closer, forcing the blade through him to the hilt.

"Sorry brother." He put his double shotgun to the double's head and gave him both barrels.

The headless corpse fell backwards, dissolving into a midnight blue dust and vanishing as it hit the floor. The blade in Marcus vanished as well, taking all the damage it had inflicted with it.

The now healed Marcus cursed, "I liked this shirt..." He muttered examining the cut.

Shade stopped cold, "Well, I'll be damned, they can die." And with that, Shade tilted back once more, letting go a low, loud, lion-like roar, and then plunging his teeth once again into the other side of his double's neck. His eyes and tattoos glowed bright as he siphoned off not blood, but the beasts power and energy, draining it of life. Watching the corpse fade to the same midnight blue and disappearing, he turned to Marcus, "Got a little piece of ya, there, didn't he?" He smirked and turned toward the next cooridor, the slight increase of power amping him up for the next task.

"I let him, they're more of our personal negatives, so I knew it's pride would never let it leave it's self open like I did, it assumed the same as much of me. And of course, it was too arrogant to believe it could be outsmarted." Marcus called his sword back and vanished it again. "This way."

Once again, Shade fell in line behind Marcus, "When do we get to the chocolate room, Mr. Wonka?" They continued through the cave, Shade, still examining every possible angle of attack. After all, amped or not, there was no reason to let his guard down. The rush of power and adrenaline had sharpened his senses somewhat, making it that much easier to take in his surroundings as they would their way through the cavern.

"You should be thankful this is such a simple cave, only one more enchantment and we're there." They entered a large room, it seemed dark beyond dark before they crossed the threshold but once they did it was brightly lit from above. A gigantic waterfall fell from somewhere they couldn't see. There were a series of stepping stones leading to the center of a small lake, growing higher as they led to a large pillar in the center.

"Ok, you have to go on, watch out, move fast cause the pillars will fall away seconds after you step on one. Don't touch the water, you don't want to know why trust me. You can't fly in here the magic's won't let you. And once you reach the main pillar there are seven identical slots for your Medallion. One will return your memories, one will erase them again and vanish you somewhere unknown, and the other five will kill you instantly, so get the right one."

"Ok, so that's jumpy pillars, hold the water, and go heavy on the good slot... You want fries with that?" Shade took a step toward the edge of the water, "Don't worry about the slots... I have a system for these kinds of things."

"Yeah, or you could just look on the back of the Medallion for the Roman numeral of the right slot." He rolled his eyes and they fell on a skeletal corpse clutching as 9mm pistol, the same caliber as the holes in it's head. It was carrying a pack that had spilled out when it fell, an unopened bag of chips lay nearby. "Oh BBQ.." He snatched them up and began to snack, lounging against the wall watching Shade.

Shade flipped the medallion over, "But there's no roman num... You dick." He easily made his way over the pillars and to the center where the slots for the medallion were. He looked hard, trying to find some defining mark that would give away the answer, "I hate puzzles. What the hell, here goes nothin'. Eenie... meenie... miney... moe!" With his hand over his eyes he dropped the medallion into a random slot. Nothing. Not a sound, not a single action to show whether he'd picked the right one. Well... for a second, anyway. Without warning, the medallion exploded sending Shade flying back to shore, and into the wall, leaving an impression of his body fractured into the stone, surrounded by a spider-web pattern of cracks.

He looked dead. Until his eyes opened. The familiar blue had gone. From his tattoos as well. Replaced by a bright, vibrant red, "Those bastards must die." At these words, he reached backwards and attempted to tear the Mark of the Covenant from his neck. Bleeding, yet free, he turned to Marcus, "I know what the Covenant is planning. I must stop them. Would you stand in my way... Brother?" Having been given back the power he had been all but stripped of, decorated in new armor with etchings matching his tattoos, and a new set of guns, and blades, he waited for Marcus's answer, not knowing that his brother-in-law had already denounced the Covenant.

"Stand in your wa..." Marcus read Shade's mind and rolled his eyes, "You idiot, I came all this way to recruit your shadow ass... Now are you ready to get this war started or what?"

"It's already begun. Now it's time to end it. Have marshaled any forces in your favor to fight them?" Shade asked in a tone that even he didn't recognize as his own. "And... Where can I get a cold slushy? I'm burnin' up." This sounded more like him. As he started toward the corridor that lead outside, the armor retracted, and most of the blades vanished, while his tattoos and eyes returned to their normal blue. The new gun, however, kept itself plainly visible in a tactical black thigh holster on his right, a small voice in his head whispered, "Phoenix Revolver." And instantly he knew his ShadowCaster had been replaced.

"Our allies are gathering them as we speak, and the Covenant will know you've betrayed them like they did with me. You should get Beth and Amanda to safety right now."

"Good, we'll need all the help we can get. The Covenant already knows, it's why they wanted to kill me." Shade stepped outside and created a mental link with his brother, "Shyne. Where are you?"

He waited for a reply, "Shade? We're about a mile west of the city. My apartment."

"Get Beth and Amanda to the Safe Zone and meet me at the house." Shade looked over the horizon, "Long way back to the city. Lucky thing we are who we are, eh Marcus?" He chuckled and disappeared in the now-familiar cloud of black smoke, reappearing in front of his home to wait for his brother.

You know, I kinda wish it zapped you if you blinked out the same as in... He pulled something out of an inner pocket and turned it over in his hand, studying it. He looked back at the main pillar before returning the black and silver medallion to it's pocket and following Shade.

"What kept ya?" Shade joked, as Shyne showed up beside them with an effect that deeply contrasted his brother's: a plume of blue-white flames.

"Hey, bro, how ya feelin'?" Shyne asked, withdrawing what appeared to be a large semi-automatic pistol with markings similar to Shade's new Phoenix Revolver. "Why the rush to get the kids to the Safe Zone?"

"War, dude... War." Shade looked at the gun, "Get a new toy while i was away?"

"No dumbass. These are the one's dad gave us before he was destroyed. I got this one, you got that one. Said they were the biggest baddest boomsticks he'd ever owned. You do know that that puppy hold four casters in the mag, right?"

Shade unlocked the cylinder and peered into the empty slots, "Yeah, that's why I wanted to meet here, so I could re-stock. You needs some shells for yours, Marcus? Now that I remember where I stashed everything, I have some kick ass toys you can use if you want."

"Huh, I'm not a big fan of new weaponry, but let's see what you've got."

"Right this way." Shade led the two through the house and into the basement. He stood in front of a blank wall, put his hand on it, said, "Open," and the wall split in two and slid to either side to reveal a door adorned with numerous, intricate mechanical locks. He slid the barrel of the Revolver into the key slot, and turned it one quarter turn counterclockwise. The bars and springs and latches and gears churned to life as the ancient door unlocked itself and opened before them. "Anyone can open the wall," explained Shade, "but only this gun can open the door... ONLY this gun."

Once the door was open, a vast expanse of space opened up before them. Brighter than the basement, light flooded around them as they stepped in. "Gentleman, and lady..."

"Hey!" Spat Shyne.

"Feast your eyes... on nothing." Shade extended his hand, to showcase an entirely empty room. "This is one of my prize creations.. Creation, itself. This place is made up of pure energy, basically meaning, it can be manipulated into any form you can conjure. Observe..." Shade reached his hand out again, and an ammo box full of a variety of Caster Shells rested in his palm. "Your turn."

"Oh,goodies." Marcus stepped into the room and emerged in a longer darker more ornate trench coat. "Just saved me a bundle on body armor, thanks." He pulled out a bandoleer of black shotgun shells and another of throwing daggers. He turned to walk a way then reached back in and pulled out a burger.

Shade stepped in and returned with lighter, stronger armor, a new long black coat, and ball cap, and also sporting a belt of Caster Shells and throwing blades. A new thigh holster for the Revolver, and two HellFire-X semi-auto pistols. And a pair of shades for added effect.

Shyne entered last, emerging in a long white coat, sunglasses, an assault rifle with a pouch of spare magazines, and some light-weight body armor, with new boots to cover his usually-bare feet.

Catching a whiff of the burger Marcus had retrieved, Shade quickly reached back inside and pulled out an italian bmt hoagie for himself, and a bag of candy for Shyne.

"Yay! Candy!"

"We can't move on the Covenant Tower right now, and I don't know about you boys but I'm not about to sit around and wait for Nyx to gather her pets." He munched on his burger. "I say we start hunting, you up for some guerrilla warfare?"

Shade twisted the gun in the keyhole one last time before concealing it behind the wall once again, "Look at us. Monkey business is our specialty!" Shade said, muffled through a mouthfull of food.

"Hey, thtupit.. he meanth do you wanna cauthe def and dethtructhon in the thity?" Answered Shyne through a mouthfull of candy.

"I know what he means, my retarded little brother. It was a joke."

"Oh. My bad."

"Not quite, it's like what I said about the Covenant, "The mightiest tree is easiest felled from the inside." He smirked, "That would be us, we're bugs to them, insignificant, but we're termites. Our numbers are growing, I say it's time for a little pruning."

Shade pulled the slide on his HellFire's to prime the energy chambers, "What'd you have in mind?" He moved on to loading four of the basic casters into the revolver.

"The Covenant is a strict system, they have many ranks, mostly grunts, then regional commanders, followed by twelve lieutenants, then seven Cal'turns and finally the Council itself." He lit up yet again. "As their chief assassin I held the rank of Lieutenant until a few hours ago, so there's eleven left. I'm proposing we kill them, that'll most likely draw out the Cal'turns, we kill them and we have an easier shot at the Council when the time comes."

He stretched, "I want to find my partner James, the idiot probably won't join us, if he does he'll just annoy us, and if he doesn't, well, I've been wanting to pull the wings off that fly for a few days now.."

"Sounds like one hell of a plan. I'm in. But I want to keep one or two of the Lieutenants alive... Beaten, but alive. Dead worms wont catch us any fish." Shade had already begun going over strategies in his head.

"Hell, yeah. Sounds like a party!" Shyne drew his SaberStaff to inspect it before going into battle. Normally a goof and a source of comic relief, in battle, Shyne was as brutal, cold, and strategic as his brother.

"Lead the way, you know 'em better than we do." Shade held the door open for Marcus and Shyne, before following.

"Here." He tossed Shade a notebook, "You'll find em easy enough, divvy em up. I'll grab and or kill Jame and catch up with you, don't mention you're with me if you can help it."

Marcus hurried outside and took off.

He flew back ten seconds later, "Umm, this is simpler." He pulled out his phone and called." Pick up you bastard.

"The hell?" James muttered as his phone's ringer went off in his pocket, "I thought I left that behind..." He was walking the rather empty streets of the city boredly and sighed, picking up the phone after a long moment, "What." He said simply.

Marcus said nothing but used the phone to find him, he blinked into existence a few feet behind James. "You hear the news yet or do you need the Readers Digest version?"

"News of what?" James simply turned to gaze at Marcus with his dull eyes, "Because, apparently, I haven't heard."

"A faction has broken from the Covenant, they learned of the Councils plan to exterminate all human DNA from the races. these separatists have allied themselves on the side of humans as well as for their own survival. That girl, Enne, you seem to like so much has joined them. As far as we can tell they intend to over throw the Council and take control of the Covenant." He gave James a blank look. "How could you not have heard of all this? You were fucking that vampire weren't you?"

"Etch, no." James replied coldly, "She most definately is not my type. Was trying to take advantage of me after my last battle." He shrugged, "They should be putting out the fire about now."

"And besides, I don't always answer my phone or stick to the damn base. I've been out here this whole time, looking for something to kill." He gave a slight grin at the mention of killing.

"Well then I've got great news for you, we're going to war, you don't get more bloodshed than in a good war."

"Oh? Wonderful." James' grin grew more broad at the thought, "I can't wait."

"Yeah well..." Marcus moved faster than the near human James could react, he pinned his face hard against the pavement. Holding him in a grip he could not break free from he said, "First things first, you need to pick a side."

James thrust Marcus away from him and stood, brushing his clothes off nonchallantly, "First off, if you're going to out of the blue ask a question like that, don't attack me first." He said coldly, "Second off, I'm getting tired of the damn covenant and their bullshit."

Marcus ripped a street sign out of the cement and threw it like a spear at James's leg. "So you're a traitor James?"

James deftly dodged the sign and shrugged, "Eh, I was getting bored. Call it what you want, but I'm nobody's puppet. I do what I want."

"What you'll do is die James, unless you'd rather work for me."

"Work for you?" James replied, "And what, pray tell, are you plotting then?"

"You know those sepratises I mentioned? Well, I'm there leader, I started it, I'm going to kill those weak bastards and take this world." He smiled. "And before you ask, what you get out of the deal is the chance for a challenge. Do you really want to spend your life wiping out street trash? Not to mention if the Council wins it'll be a short life.

"Street trash isn't exactly up to par with me." James replied, "They've been boring me for a while now."

"Good, now if you don't mind it feels like it's been months since I killed anything..." What do you say to cutting up Bala and Mal Cornis? Two Covenant Lieutenants should be fun, no?"

"It does indeed." James replied, "A better kill. Should excite my flames wonderfully to engulf their corpses." He did something odd then- releasing a brief peal of amused, and somewhat glad laughter.

"Bala's mine, you take Mal, afterwards we meet up with two allies. Let's move out."

"And who are our allies?" James questioned, "You've not been too clear on anything..."

"Well, like I mentioned, Enne, and Nyx. Others that you'll meet when we strike, some are hunting Lieutenants right now as we speak. So we should be moving before all the good ones are gone."

"Fine, let's go then." James replied, "I'd rather not get stuck with a piece of trash."

Marcus spread his great black wings, then hesitated. "I never asked, can you fly?"

James blinked, then nodded, "Of course I can." He replied, adding, "Though of course my wings aren't quite like yours. In fact, I don't even need wings anymore." He lifted himself easily off of the ground, the air beneath his feet shimmering with heat.

"These days no one does, but I'm a traditionalist, follow me."
He led the way to a fancy suit downtown. "Top floor, third window on the right, let's make an entrance." Marcus blasted the window with a sphere of his energy, blasting away half the buildings wall on that floor and the one below, he swooped in, blade drawn.

Hissing and growling with several cuts on them Bala and Mal attacked him. Apparently in the act of lovemaking the husband and wife charged him, both of them naked. Mal swinging curved scimitars of fire, his wife a short sword that froze the air as it flew.

Ducking a fiery swipe Marcus kicked Mal aside for the trailing James. He then met Bala's insane swipes with her blade with his, feeling the cold in his hands as his blade was chilled. Normal metal would have become so brittle it would have shattered, but his blade was of better craftsmanship.

"Come on Bala baby, let's see what you got!" He laughed.
"Marcus you bitch, you filthy traitors fool you're DEAD!!" She screamed, Bala was famous for her cruelty and insanity.

Still laughing Marcus ducked her blade and made a swipe at her exposed breasts, removing a nipple, toying with her.

"Let's see if you're a better fighter than you were a fuck Bala!" She hissed at this and cleaved the air gracefully.

James blocked Mal's fierce attacks with his scimitars with short, simple bursts of flames, "Mal, you seem to forget that fire won't injure me." He said with a dark grin.

"James, you bastard, you're not even a lieutenant, what do you think you'll accomplish other than your death by attacking me!" Mal growled fiercely, slicing through James' coat sleeves.

James wasn't phased, nor was he wounded, he pulled out a single knife, tossing it thoughtfully in the air before throwing it down into Mal's thigh. Mal gave a rage groan and yanked the knife out, ignoring the trail of blood that flowed freely down his leg, "I'm having fun." James replied with a smirk, "Your covenant bullshit was beginning to rub me the wrong way." He said simply.

Bala lunged again, her breast oozing blood down to her stomach, "DIE!! diediediediedie!!!" She screamed, slicing and stabbing at him with each utterance of the word. Marcus smirked at her, "Come on cutie." He winked at her, enraged Bala stabbed her blade at him, it missed and pierced the wall. Thin crystals of ice spread rapidly from where the wall had been struck, making it so cold it broke under it's own weight and a large section colapsed.

Marcus spun around behind her and smacked her ass, enraged even more she swung her blade at him full force while spinning. She felt her arms jarred by the blade's sudden stopping, Marcus, smiling, had stopped her blade with one of Shade's throwing daggers.

Still smiling he slid his blade into her abdomen, she gave a gurgling gasp. "Well babe, what d'you say we heat things up?" He wrenched the dagger, with it's master so wounded the ice blade shattered. Reaching around with his dagger he pulled her to him, tilting her head back her transmuted his face. With razor fangs he tore out her throat in one bite, grinning as her limp body colapsed, gave a twitch and was still. Well, there goes my last surviving exgirlfriend.

James finally brought out his beretta and fired point blank into Mal's skull. The man's body jerked backwards, his scimitars clattering to the ground as he was kept on his feet by the bullets that tore into his body.

After a few seconds James lifted his finger from the trigger and slid the gun back into his coat, watching as Mal fell lifelessly to the floor, blood pooling from his riddled body, along with what were once organs and brain matter. He turned in time to see Marus finish off Bala. "Well, that was brief, fun, but brief." He commented.

"Yes, quite simple, too simple." He mused, "I wonder...Could we be experiencing Chaos Theory in action?"

"Chaos theory in action?" James questioned.

"In a complex dynamic system it's impossible to predict the outcome of anything, because nothing is knowable, everything seems to be random. The same action can never repeat, introduce a few free radical elements and all bets are off..." He shrugged. "Anything is possible, with us bouncing around doing the damage we are, there's a possibility for us to succeed. In fact because it's so impossible, it's more likely." He grinned and nudged Bala's body, "Ah chaos, a demons best friend."

"Oh, makes sense I suppose." James shrugged nonchallantly, "We should head out soon though, should we not? We came in rather noisily, and I've no doubt that we've drawn quite a bit of attention to this building with these two being as loud as they were."

"Alright sure, lets fine Shade and Shyne."

James simply nodded, and slipped through the hole that Marcus had blasted through the wall.
